Who do you bet on?

I realize that some of you may look at this picture and think "What the hell does this have to do with betting on yourself"? Well have you ever heard the phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover"? Well, this is Kirk Cousins, American football player, a quarterback with the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. For those of you who are unaware of his history, he was drafted in the fourth round of the NFL Draft behind Robert Griffin III who was drafted #2 overall. Kirk was drafted to be a back-up QB in the league and for the first two years as RG3 went on to gain accolades, Kirk simply waited his time. Well as time passed, RG3 suffered a significant injury and suddenly it was Kirk's turn! Kirk became the starter and never looked back, he eventually moved on to other teams along the way but still maintained his self belief. Throughout his career, he continued to bet on himself, amassing over $400M in career earnings! All of this from a fourth round pick, who was drafted to be the back up to a Heisman Trophy winning player, and would never amount to anything more than a back-up. The moral of the story is always bet on yourself! With a plan you can do anything, with the right knowledge, your progress can be without measure, and with the right supporting cast, you can move mountains!

Tips for betting on yourself:

  1. Define YOUR success: What does success look like to you? What does it mean to you? You must know your end goal and your why.

  2. Trust your instincts: Ever heard "Your first reaction is usually the most correct one"well in most cases it typically is. Trust your gut, if you're unsure of something, research it!

  3. Passion? Follow it!: Follow what makes you happy! It's easier said than done obviously. But passion is what will sustain you when the hiccups come and come they will.

  4. Preparation: Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance aww the 5P's. Well it's true isn't it? Preparation reduces moving on the fly and sets the tone moving forward.

  5. Self-Doubt: "No one is coming to save you" that's a mantra that is used by many. The truth of it is, in this life, whether its employment or starting your a business, it starts and ends with you! If you don't believe, no one else will either! We all have setbacks it's how we push through that counts!
